Happy New Year everyone. Since it’s a new year and
Tiger is BACK we decided to make some positive changes to the golf course that
will help with the playability of the Links Course and Lake Course.
Number 5 on the Links Course. The dreaded number 5. This hole has wreaked havoc on all of us at
some point over the years; especially lately as the trees and shrubs had gotten
so tall that it was becoming a ridiculously tough hole. This hole will have a new look in 2018. There will be just one tree in your way now
as you hit your approach shot towards the green. All the shrubs and trees have been removed
from the waste area that separates the fairway from the green. This will not only help with the difficulty
of the hole, but it should speed up play as you will be able to the see green
from everywhere now. And for our guests that aren’t familiar with the golf
course they will have a better idea of the layout now. Here’s a rough timeline photo shoot I
captured. I don’t have a photo of the final product so you will have to wait
and see it for yourself come spring 2018.
A few other layout changes include the left side of
number 6 on the Links Course. The “corner”
on the left hand side from the tee box where the hole starts to move to the
dogleg left has been shoved back. Some
large trees were removed to improve the sightline towards the hole. This will also aid in pace of play as it will
easier to see where your tee shot ends up if it rides the left hand side
towards the tree line and fescue. The trees on the right hand side of the hole
were also limbed up significantly. If
your ball is hit towards the fence line it will be easier to track it and find
it under the spruce trees. Here’s a photo of the left hand side on 6 from the
tee decks.
Some other changes include the removal of trees to
the left hand side of number 13. This may not affect playability as much as the
previous layout alterations but it should improve the quality of grass in that
back corner and hopefully help it dry out faster after a rain. And I’m sure most of you saw the new forward
tee being built on number 8 Lake. The
tee is being built forward to the right of the original tees to make the hole
play shorter if need be and also help keep wayward shots out of the trailers on
the right hand side. The tee will be
available for play as soon as we get sod on it in the spring and it has some
time to become stable and healthy.
